Independent reading time is very important and selecting books that you like and enjoy at your reading level is key to learning to love to read. Every time you finish a book you should log onto the BOOK ADVENTURE program and take a comprehension quiz to see if you are understanding what you are reading. The more you read, the more quizzes you can take to earn points towards your goal. When you reach your goal you can get a super great prize for your hard work! Log in using the username and password located on the inside cover of your agenda!
Mrs. Giannandrea has purchased the premium membership for this program because she likes it so much! We are using the new WordSmith spelling program this year. A letter will go home every Monday stating what our word list is for the week and the strategy or skill we are practicing. Games will be available on spellingcity.com that you can play to get more practice with those words. Spelling tests will occur Friday with paper and pencil.
In third grade we read a lot of non-fiction. The district has purchased a great program called Achieve 3000 for us to use. This program has articles of interest and is presented to students according to their own reading levels. We try to do this program once a week. Of course, logging in at home and reading with this program is encouraged as well! Please click HERE to log into Achieve 3000 through Brighton Area Schools.
